Weekend Wrap up with Lauren Cochran

not seth meyers, sorry. anyways,

So when you have a sucky Friday, you must have a extra great saturday, right? RIGHT. Well let me rephrase, when you have a sucky friday night.

My friDAY went really well actually.  Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook graced us with his presence at a forum on friday (oh ya, along with senator hatch) followed up by a delicious Cafe Rio lunch with my grandma.
but back to my friday night. . .

So since I was either in the library or the testing center from 3pm to 11:30 pm, it called for a pretty FABULOUS saturday if you know what im saying.

Recipe for a great Saturday

1. 3 cups of Holi Festival of Colors
aka, utah valley's version of a Woodstock complete with peace, love, music, lots of colors, crowds and therefore crowd surfing, and of course some substance abuse. best way to celebrate hare krishna for sure

2. 1 tablespoon of girl scout cookies
Chrissy and I finally found some girl scouts after our long search for them. To make this ingredient work, make sure to get a good mix of samoas and thin mints.

3. A cup of Dinner
make sure its delicious like the Brick Oven, and with some of your favorite people, of course. A big thanks to the adorable Stutz family!

4. A pinch of stares from everyone because the colors didn't wash    out of your hair.

5. 2 Cups of bowling in the Wilk
Tastes better if made interesting by dividing into teams and playing for frozen yogurt.  And let me tell you, when you're team wins, you bowled a 155, and you get your yogurt free, it tastes even better.

6. 2 1/2 cups of Comedy Sports
all star cast last night at comedy sports. I'm still laughing.

make sure to mix well, and it's sure to turn out great.

Texas v. Utah

So I’ve kinda been having a dilemma of sorts recently you could say:  What to do with my life this summer.

Option #1: Get an apartment and stay in Utah to get a job.
Option #2: Go home to Texas, and get a job while living at home.
Option #3: arguably the best from certain perspectives, go live in Washington D.C. all summer working with their Head Start program. But once again, I’d need a job too.

All had their pros and cons. Obvious theme: JOB.
So its looking like it will come down to Utah v. Texas.
But if i stayed in Utah, I would miss out on

These Guys.

And don't forget these guys.

and of course these things:
Texas, duh
rangers games
mimi and fam
snow cones from none other than the snowflake factory
six flags with ay tay tay
hot hot temperatures
late nights with my favorite people
good mexican food
etc etc etc.

I think I've made up my mind Y'all!

Lets hope I can find a fabulous job.

Oxymoron

I saw a man walking around campus twice earlier this week with one of those strange t-shirts that's all black except for some supposedly witty saying on the front. Either that or there were two men who happen to have the same shirt on campus, who knows.
Either way, it caught my attention. it said. . .

good morning is an oxymoron.
                     and i concur.

Happy Sunday

So I know that this will be my second post for today but I had to catch up. And I had to have a happy Sunday, especially this Sunday. It was a really good Sunday.

Well here at BYU, we’re pretty lucky. We get all the amazing speakers here in person. Take today for instance:

ELDER L. TOM PERRY
a return to our christian faith.
Our generation needs to step forward. Our enemy will be different, though. He will try to lead us away from our virtues, weaken our faith. The world has moved away from traditional worship. Materialism has replaced God. We must never replace our faith in God with things that will not last. our faith must become more sure. If we build our foundation on Christ, the devil will have no power over us. We cannot fall with such a foundation. We were chosen for this time, and we have more responsibility than ever before. the only JOY in life comes from following christ.

We need to rise to the challenge and help restore faith in the gospel of jesus christ.
