Festive Festival

Guess what time of the year it is?
 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL time.

Naturally, Chrissy, Mckenna, and I really wanted to go, but are way too poor to afford getting a pass to go to all the screenings. But that wasn’t going to stop us. . . so we drove the beautiful trip up the canyon to Park City (look at me knowing the lingo) to check it out anyways.  We had to make a pit stop though because Chrissy and I had never experienced a frozen lake.  So, of course, we made Mckenna turn around and pull over so we could frolic across a white lake that looks just like any other white field, but way more special. Therefore, this became a day of firsts. First film festival visit, and first time walking on water. Just check those off the list!

Adventures that followed:
{Crumping on a frozen lake}
{Creepin on 50 cent and Holly from the office}
{Getting picked up by this random man so he could take a pic with us}
{Getting interviewed by a reporter whose sexual orientation was definitely questionable because we obviously looked like actresses or models}
{Eating some fabulous pizza}
{FREEZING our toes off and getting snow dumped on us: not sure I didn’t get frostbite in my toes}
{Parking was an adventure of its own, topped off with McKenna falling into a nice snow bank. Almost peed myself.}
{Following the pap around to find celebs}

So in general, it was pretty festive, and pretty fun.
Maybe one year I’ll get to actually go to the screenings.

Hey Mom, Look What I Learned At School Today!

Fun facts from this week in class:
Physical Science 110B - it is sometimes necessary to lick rocks when trying to identify minerals. Not exactly sanitary, but definitely effective tool in identification.

PETE 169- learned how to teach kids to jump rope, hoola hoop, play softball, tumble, do animal walks and learned how to double Dutch myself! Oh great fun in that class.

Dance 180- got the basic steps of the Foxtrot down. About to be a pro ballroom dancer.  Might sign up for dancing with the stars, you never know.

RelA 122-  I really liked how brother parker related a story in the New Testament to us today in class.  He was talking about materialism and he made the comparison to when Jesus healed the blind man.  He said that to heal the man, he spit in the dirt, making mud and covered the man’s eyes in mud.  He instructed the man to wash the mud from his eyes.  The first thing the man saw when he washed clean his eyes was Christ.  This mud came from the earth representing the materialistic, earthly things in the world that blind us.  When we wash clean the worldly distractions in our eyes, we are able to see Christ again. Pretty cool right?

Stats- here’s a stat for ya . . . 50% of students never know what’s going on in there.

SFL 240- just reviewin’ about my men Piaget and Vygotsky. At this point, we’re pretty tight.

The Fab list

I just want to put a plug in for a couple things I happen to think are fabulous:

1. Modern Family
I don’t know if you watch it or not, but it’s hilarious and definitely a favorite of mine currently. I’m excited for a new the new episode tonight which from the looks of the preview won’t disappoint!
Modern Family tv show photo

2.  BYU fitness Pass
  This thing definitely makes it on the fabulous list. There are awesome classes everyday including Zumba (love), power pump, Hilt, ab classes, cardio blast, yoga, pilates, and aqua blast. I definitely LOVE this wristband, and very worth the moola.

Happy Early Birthday To Me!

Why yes, I do not turn 19 until the end of next month, but I’ve been wanting this watch so, mi madre made it happen

A big thank you to the parentals!
Happy early birthday!

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

My Polaroid camera failed me for the first time today, which is very upsetting to say the least.

FAIL.

But yes, I do have a sweet polaroid camera. I know, very hipster of me right? But I still love it.  One day i was just sitting on the couch, prob watching some useless tv, most likely the real housewives or something when I had a sudden thought, I would really love to have a Polaroid camera.  Within the next hour I had one purchased and on it’s way for Texas. Thank you ebay, you always do me so well.  Now I just hope that the picture that didn’t come out today was a result of the film, not my dear camera. Fingers crossed!

On the mind: Shopping

Let’s talk about clothes. Besides the green cargo pants I had to get this weekend, I've been pretty good about not shopping.  I was at the outlets in park city, what could I do. I tell you, try being a poor college student on a Wal-Mart budget with a J. Crew taste preference.  It ain’t easy.  I am so blessed though and I have so much so I always hope I can try to keep it all in perspective, while still enjoying great clothes.  But . . . let’s just say, I hope I find a man someday who can afford and appreciate my fabulous taste. Judge me if you will, but it’s just a wish of mine, and we’re all entitled to those.

London Calling

Recently Chrissy and I have been trying to figure out what we are doing with our life in the coming years and well, I cannot tell you how excited I am for LONDON.

Really, it’s way to early to be getting this excited but in the words of Paula Abdul, "it is what it is"!  I may or may not be a photography blog junkie, and today, I spent more time than I would like to admit creepin on a girl’s blog about her study abroad to London.  I’m ready to go tomorrow! To do before then: get a nice camera, make a butt load of money, and keep Chrissy from getting married. I think I can do it.

Nothing Changes on New Years Day.

So every time new years rolls around, I am always really hesitant about setting my “New Year’s resolutions”.  This is partly because I never seem to be able to keep them, usually resulting in some form of frustration with myself for my lack of discipline or whatever.

Regardless, it is that time of year again and I am not going to put it off any longer. I’m not going to get into what all my goals are other than I am going to now journal. I have always loved the idea of a journal, the concept. It’s great. But really, I’m not so good with journals.  I’m chatty so I always have too much to say and the voice in my head is much speedier than my hands. Besides the fact that I also usually end up throwing old journals away for embarrassment about my handwriting and what I wrote at the time. I’m going to try to get over these problems and just do it.

 Okay new years resolution number 2: stay out of the BYU lost and found!!! I swear, I have tested the system so many times and thank heavens people here are honest.  The church must be true or something . . . but anyways my goal is to not lose anything. This could turn out to be slightly difficult considering my track record so far.  Wish me luck!

But i wish everyone good luck on their goals!

Lauren Cochran: Blogger

One night I was just thinking: I should blog because, duh, everyone in happy valley is required to blog.  Except for im a little skeptical. I doubt anyone out there really cares much what I have to say and of course the biggest problem is I want it to be cute and creative and well frankly I’m afraid my blog wouldn’t live up to my own standards.  I am an admitted blog stalker, and consequently, have found out what a good blog looks like.  Not sure I have the stuff.  But I’m up for the challenge and so watch out blog world, Lauren is here to blog.
